Two or more piezoelectric film or quartz pressure sensors are embedded in each lane. The spacing between sensors is fixed, ranging from 1 to 2.5 meters depending on the layout. Rectangular inductive loops are buried ahead of the sensors. When a vehicle passes over the pressure sensors, the pressure exerted by each wheel or group of wheels is proportionally reflected in the electrical charge signal output by the sensors. As the wheels press down on the sensors, the resulting signals are converted into digital voltage signals by the acquisition unit circuit. These voltage signals are then processed by the MCU to accurately determine data such as the vehicle’s weight, number of axles, axle distance, speed, vehicle model, and vehicle length. Specifically, the vehicle length data is derived from the duration during which the vehicle’s metal chassis activates the induction coil; simultaneously, the induction coil is also used for vehicle segmentation.
